Starting
in Ottawa, if your interest is culture, history or simply natural
outdoor attractions, Canada’s Capital region offers a unique
combination of both. There are over 30 museums. 50 galleries and
theatres. From Night clubs to fine dining, World-class shopping and
Heritage sites. Ottawa has some stunning architecture both new and
old, as in the National Gallery of Canada to the historic Parliament
buildings. There are winter and summer festivals, such as Winterlude,
Bluesfest and a hot air balloon festival in Hull. In the winter the
Rideau canal becomes one of the longest skating rinks in the world.
It is a big part of Winterlude. A winter carnival that takes place in
Ottawa every winter.
The
amazing Rideau Canal and all its locks can be enjoyed by boat, bike
or car. The Rideau Canal Waterway, which links the lakes and rivers
between Ottawa and Kingston, is the oldest continuously operated
canal in North America. It has been designated
a National Historic Site of Canada, a Canadian Heritage River and a
UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Rideau consists of a series of
beautiful lakes and rivers connected by canals, stretching from
Kingston, at the foot of Lake Ontario, to Ottawa, Canada's capital.
